Legends, myths and history
This beautiful square was the Stadium of Domitian, the emperor who proclaimed himself God when he was still alive! Made of full baroque, this beautiful square was created by famous artists and sculptors as Bernini, Borromini and Rainaldi. Today Piazza Navona hosts a market that has become a real tradition of Rome. Initially it was a simple market ward, but now the square is also home to many "street artists" that offer services as diverse portraits caricatures to real personal performance to admire in the evening hours. Piazza Navona is definitely one of the biggest and most elegant squares of the capital. In the past it was used for the famous "athletic games" desired by the emperor Domitian. Our advice is to visit this wonderful place at Christmas, because the square is literally invaded by a horde of light and color as well as stalls selling all sorts of things to the classical statues for the crib.
